What Lifetimer does

Limits, reminders and automation in one place

Lifetimer is more than a timer. It manages how long an app lives, when it may run, and what happens when it starts eating the device.

App lifetime budgets

Give every app a life span: 45 minutes for games, unlimited for the dictionary. When the budget is spent, the app closes politely.

Schedules that match real life

School hours, homework blocks, bedtime and weekends each get their own rules, applied automatically.

Study reminder plans

Students build a weekly plan by subject. Lifetimer nudges before each session and tracks streaks instead of nagging.

Resource threshold rules

Watch CPU, RAM, disk or network per app. Cross a threshold and Lifetimer warns, throttles, restarts or closes it.

Automatic app restart

Memory leaks and frozen windows fix themselves. Configure a cooldown so restarts never turn into a loop.

Reports parents understand

Daily and weekly summaries per child, per device and per category, with trends instead of raw logs.

One rule, every device

Pair unlimited student devices to one family. Rules sync to Android, iOS and Desktop within seconds.

Focus mode

A single tap blocks distracting apps for the length of a session and keeps the tools needed for homework open.

Tamper resistant

Rules survive reboots, uninstall attempts are reported to Guardian, and only a parent PIN can change limits.

Resource automation

Restart an app before it ruins the study session

Heavy browsers, editors and games slowly eat memory until the device crawls. Lifetimer watches resource usage per app and acts on the thresholds you choose, so a laggy laptop never becomes an excuse to stop studying.

  • Notify the student first, with a 30 second grace period
  • Save state, then restart the app cleanly
  • Fall back to closing the app after 3 failed restarts
  • Log the event to the weekly Guardian report

A study plan that earns free time

Students build their own weekly reminder plan by subject. Lifetimer sends a nudge before each block, keeps distractions closed during the session, and unlocks free time when the plan is finished.

  • Reminders, not alarms. One gentle notification before each block and a five minute warning before it ends.
  • Earned rewards. Completed study blocks can add bonus minutes to entertainment budgets automatically.
  • Full transparency. Students always see their own limits and remaining time, so nothing feels hidden.
How it works

Set up once, in four steps

  1. 01

    Install Guardian

A parent installs Lifetimer Guardian and creates the family. It takes about two minutes and one email address.

  2. 02

    Pair the student devices

Install Lifetimer on each Android, iOS or Desktop device and scan the pairing code. Permissions are explained step by step.

  3. 03

    Agree on the plan together

Set budgets, schedules and study blocks. Students can see their own limits, so the rules feel like an agreement, not a surprise.

  4. 04

    Let it run

Lifetimer enforces limits, sends reminders and reports back weekly. Adjust anything from Guardian at any time.

FAQ

Questions parents ask first

Which apps do parents install, and which do students install?+

Parents install Lifetimer Guardian. Students install Lifetimer Android, Lifetimer iOS or Lifetimer Desktop, depending on the device. One Guardian account can manage many student devices.

Does Lifetimer read messages or browsing history?+

No. Lifetimer records app names, categories and how long they were used, plus the resource metrics needed for automation rules. It never reads message content, keystrokes or page content.

Can a student uninstall the app to escape the limits?+

Lifetimer uses the platform administration and screen time APIs to resist removal. If an app is disabled or removed anyway, Guardian receives an alert so parents know immediately.

How does the automatic restart feature work?+

You define thresholds for CPU, memory, disk or network per app. When a threshold is crossed for the duration you choose, Lifetimer warns the student, then restarts or closes the app, with cooldown limits so it never loops.

Does it work offline?+

Yes. Limits and schedules are stored on the device, so they stay enforced without a network connection. Reports and rule changes sync the next time the device is online.

Is Lifetimer suitable for children under 13?+

Yes, with verifiable parental consent given inside Guardian. Read the details in our Privacy Policy.
