Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lifetimer ("Lifetimer", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses and protects information when you use Lifetimer Guardian, Lifetimer Android, Lifetimer iOS and Lifetimer Desktop (together, the "Services").
- Effective date:
- July 31, 2026
- Version:
- 1.0
1. Summary
Lifetimer is a family screen time and app lifetime manager. A parent or legal guardian uses Lifetimer Guardian to set rules; a student device runs Lifetimer Android, iOS or Desktop to enforce those rules. We collect only the data required to deliver those features.
- We do not sell personal data and we do not use personal data for third-party advertising.
- We do not read message content, emails, photos, keystrokes or web page content.
- We collect app usage duration, app and category names, device resource metrics and the settings you configure.
- Children's accounts are always created and consented to by a parent inside Lifetimer Guardian.
2. Who is responsible for your data
Lifetimer is the data controller for account information. Where a school or organisation deploys Lifetimer, that organisation may act as the controller and we process data on its behalf. You can reach us at denguyenst@gmail.com.
3. Information we collect
Account information. Parent name, email address, hashed password (or third-party sign-in identifier), family name, child display names, child age or grade band, and the parent PIN used to protect settings.
Device and pairing information. Device model, operating system version, app version, device nickname, locale, time zone and a randomly generated device identifier used to link a student device to a family.
App usage information. Names and package identifiers of applications installed or launched on a managed device, app category, session start and end times, total time used, number of launches, and whether a limit was reached, extended or overridden.
Resource metrics for automation. Where you enable resource threshold rules, we process CPU usage, memory usage, disk activity, network throughput, battery level and thermal state, together with the identity of the process concerned, so that a warning, restart or close action can be triggered.
Study plan information. Subjects, session titles, scheduled times, durations, completion status, streaks and reminder preferences created by the student or the parent.
Requests and approvals. Extra-time requests, unlock requests, parent decisions and the time they were made.
Diagnostics. Crash reports, error logs, performance traces and anonymous feature-usage counters. Diagnostic collection can be disabled in settings.
Support communications. The content of emails or support tickets you send us.
Location Data
LifeTimer collects location data, including precise location, to provide parental safety and location-sharing features.
Location data is used to:
- allow an authorized parent or guardian to view the location of a linked child device;
- provide Safe Places features;
- detect when a linked child device enters or leaves a Safe Place;
- provide location updates for enabled parental safety features.
When Location or Safe Places features are enabled, LifeTimer may access and collect location data while the app is running in the background or is not actively being used. Background location access is necessary to keep enabled location-sharing and Safe Places features working.
Location data may be securely transmitted to LifeTimer's backend servers so that an authorized parent or guardian linked to the child device can view the child's location and receive Safe Places updates.
LifeTimer does not sell location data or use location data for advertising.
Users can disable location access at any time through Android Settings. Disabling location access may prevent Location and Safe Places features from functioning correctly.
4. Information we do NOT collect
- Contents of messages, chats, emails, calls or SMS.
- Keystrokes, clipboard contents, screenshots or screen recordings.
- Web page contents, browsing history or search queries.
- Photos, videos, documents or files stored on the device.
- Contacts, call logs or microphone and camera input.
- Payment card numbers. Payments, where applicable, are handled by our payment processor and we receive only a token and the transaction status.
5. Permissions we request and why
- Usage access / Screen Time (Android, iOS). Required to measure how long each app is used and to apply limits.
- Device administrator or Family Controls entitlement. Required to shield apps when a limit is reached and to resist unauthorised removal.
- Accessibility service (Android, optional). Used only to detect which app is in the foreground so a limit can be enforced. We do not use it to read screen content.
- Notifications. Required to send reminders, countdown warnings and approval requests.
- Run at startup and background execution. Required so that rules remain enforced after a reboot.
- Process and performance information (Desktop). Required for resource threshold rules and automatic app restart.
You can revoke any permission in the operating system settings. Doing so may disable the corresponding Lifetimer feature.
6. How we use information
- To create and secure accounts and to pair devices to a family.
- To apply time budgets, schedules, focus sessions and app shields.
- To deliver study reminders and to track plan completion and streaks.
- To evaluate resource threshold rules and to warn, restart or close an app as configured.
- To generate daily and weekly reports for the parent.
- To deliver approval requests and notifications between devices.
- To diagnose crashes, improve reliability and prevent abuse.
- To respond to support enquiries and to comply with legal obligations.
7. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: contract for providing the Services you request; consentof the parent or guardian for processing a child's data and for optional features such as diagnostics or place-based rules; legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention and service improvement; and legal obligation where the law requires retention or disclosure. Consent may be withdrawn at any time in Guardian settings.
8. Children's privacy
Lifetimer is designed to be set up by a parent or legal guardian for a child in their care. A child cannot create an account independently. The parent provides verifiable consent inside Lifetimer Guardian before any student device is paired, and can review, export or delete the child's data at any time.
- We collect the minimum data needed to operate the parental controls the parent enabled.
- We do not serve behavioural advertising to children and we do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not condition a child’s use of the Services on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary.
- Child data is deleted when the parent removes the child, deletes the family, or 30 days after account closure, whichever is earlier.
We aim to comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR including Article 8, Google Play's Families and Data safety policies, and Apple's Kids Category and App Store Review Guidelines. If you believe we have collected data from a child without proper consent, contact denguyenst@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only in these cases:
- Within the family. Usage summaries and rule status from a student device are visible to the parent accounts in the same family. Students can see their own limits and usage.
- Service providers. Cloud hosting, database, push notification, crash reporting and email delivery providers process data on our instructions under written agreements.
- Legal requirements. Where required by applicable law, regulation, legal process or an enforceable governmental request.
- Business transfer. In a merger, acquisition or asset sale, subject to this Policy continuing to apply, with notice to you.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
10. Data retention
- Detailed per-session usage records: up to 90 days by default (configurable down to 7 days in Guardian).
- Aggregated weekly and monthly summaries: up to 24 months, so trends remain visible.
- Resource metric samples: up to 30 days.
- Account and family records: for as long as the account is active.
- Diagnostics and crash logs: up to 180 days.
- Backups: purged within 35 days of deletion.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and encrypted at rest. Passwords are stored using a modern salted hashing algorithm. Access to production systems is restricted, logged and protected by multi-factor authentication. Parent PINs protect settings changes on managed devices. No system is perfectly secure, but we review our controls regularly and will notify affected users and regulators of a qualifying breach as required by law.
12. International transfers
We may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and Singapore. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
13. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to receive a portable copy, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Parents may exercise these rights on behalf of their children.
- Access and export: Guardian › Settings › Privacy › Export data.
- Delete a child or the whole family: Guardian › Settings › Privacy › Delete.
- Disable diagnostics: Guardian or student app › Settings › Diagnostics.
- Or email denguyenst@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a first request.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA) additionally have the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
14. Third-party processors
We use a small number of vendors to run the Services, including cloud hosting and database, push notification services provided by Apple, Google and Microsoft, crash and performance reporting, and transactional email. A current list is available on request from denguyenst@gmail.com.
15. Cookies and this website
This marketing website uses only essential cookies and privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics. It does not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. The Lifetimer apps do not contain advertising SDKs.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services or the law. Material changes will be announced in the apps and by email at least 14 days before they take effect, and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after that date means you accept the revised Policy.
